What is MI Pathway?

MI Pathway is an online tool designed to help applicants to the Futures for Frontliners and Reconnect programs view information about certificate and Associate Degree programs that align with promising occupations. It shows programs at your local community college that train students to work in jobs that pay well and exhibit strong demand in your part of the state.

Who developed MI Pathway?

MI Pathway was developed by a research term headquartered at the University of Michigan. Our team collaborated with Futures for Frontliners and Reconnect program administrators and the Office of Sixty by 30 throughout the process. We partnered with the Michigan Community College Association and individual community colleges to collect information about the certificate and Associate Degree programs featured on the site.

Why can't I view information about other colleges or certificates / degrees?

Since Futures for Frontliners and Reconnect cover in-district tuition costs, MI Pathway highlights programs at your local community college (that is, the college for which you are considered "in-district"). The website only shows certificate and degree programs that align with high-demand, high-wage occupations in your region as defined by the state of Michigan. Interested in other programs not included here? See the Futures for Frontliners and Reconnect program websites.

Can I enroll in any program shown on MI Pathway?

Some certificate and degree programs require applications, have a limited number of available slots, and/or accept applications at specific times of the year. MI Pathway displays some of this information, but coverage may not be exhaustive. Always speak with an advisor at your community college to confirm your eligibility.

MI Pathway shows information about non-tuition costs. What does this include?

Non-tuition costs shown on this site include lab fees, other course-specific fees, course material costs (for example: hand tools for mechanical programs), and textbooks. The costs shown on MI Pathway are approximate and do not represent exact totals. Contact an advisor at your community college for more information. To learn more about costs that the Futures for Frontliners and Reconnect programs do and do not cover, visit the program websites.

MI Pathway shows information about post-graduation earnings. What does this mean?

Earnings data come from MI School Data, the State of Michigan's official source for public education and workforce data. These figures show typical salaries one and five years after graduating among Michigan workers who completed certificate or associate degree programs in Michigan with classification of instructional program codes matching those of the certificate and associate degree programs shown on MI Pathway. These are historical averages and you are not guaranteed to earn these salaries.
